Akunne Okechukwu Amuta is very well known at Port Harcourt, Warri and Onitsha his home State. “ Akunne Warri! Akunne Onitsha! He is a patriotic Nigerian who lives by the Axiom “Be your brother’s keeper” He was a professional Auto/Diesel Mechanic who worked with Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited. He rose through the ranks to the position of Rig Maintenance Coordinator with the job title of Drilling Rig Maintenance.

He was trained by the company under a scholarship programme which I equally benefitted from. He was my senior and mentor. During his school days, he excelled in sports. He was a high jump champion in Shell. He played football in the No 5 position. His dribbling technic earned him the nickname “ cha cha cha”. He played league football matches for the company against famous Port Harcourt Red Devil players like Onyeanwuna, Uwalaka, and Onyeado who won the champions cup many times in the sixties. He also shone in the Kings game of lawn tennis and won many trophies.
